Bonjour et bienvenue au site internet de l’Opération PRUDENCE, Rotation 4. Je suis le lieutenant-colonel Marc Tremblay, commandant du contingent canadien en République Centrafricaine (CCRCA) qui est un élément de la Mission des Nations-Unies en République Centrafricaine (MINURCA). Une fois de plus, le Canada par le biais de cette mission en sol africain, réitère son engagement face au maintien de la paix et de la stabilité dans le monde. Notre contingent composé de 51 militaires vous offre l’occasion, par le biais de ce site, de nous visiter et d’observer la progression de la mission au fur et à mesure que les événements se déroulent.
Le présent terme de la MINURCA devrait se terminer le 15 novembre 1999, soit après la tenue des élections présidentielles qui sont prévues à la fin août et au début septembre 1999. J’aimerais souligner qu`à titre de canadiens, nous sommes très bien vus et surtout fort respectés par nos confrères de travail ainsi que par la population locale. Le Canada a toujours été perçu comme un élément neutre et stable, et le seul fait d’arborer la feuille d’érable nous confère un statut enviable qui influence positivement et globalement la mission.

I am Lieutenant Colonel Marc Tremblay, Commanding Officer of the Canadian Contingent serving as part of MINURCA - the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic. Once again Canada, by way of this additional mission on African soil, is emphasising its commitment to the maintenance of peace and security throughout the world. The internet site you are visiting provides you with the opportunity to visit this contingent composed of 51 soldiers and officers and observe the progression of our mission from beginning to end.
The MINURCA mandate is expected to terminate on 15 November, after the presidential elections scheduled for the end of August ant beginning of September. I would like to underline to all visitors to this site that Canadians have been very well-received in this country , as much by the local population as well as our military colleagues. Canada has always been seen as a stable and neutral element in global democracy and conflict resolution. Simply wearing the red and white national flag on our uniforms appears to bestow upon us an enviable status of positive influence within the mission; a responsibility and honour that all members of the contingent take very seriously.
